SOLAS amendments - VGM questions
On 1 July 2016 the new SOLAS requirement to verify the gross mass of a container carrying cargo comes into force. Without the verified gross mass (VGM) a packed container will not be loaded onboard of the vessel. This new requirement raises a lot of questions though, also among our customers.
The most complete compilation of questions and corresponding answers which we came across is the FAQ document compiled by the following four organisations: TT Club, World Shipping Council, ICHCA International and Global Shippers Forum.
